Senior Meal Program expands in Grygla.
While Senior Meals will continue to be served every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Grain Bin Café in Grygla, starting Tuesday, July 8th, community members will now have two additional opportunities each week to enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch...this time at the Grygla Community Center.
Hot meals will be available every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for pick-up, with frozen meal options also available by request. To help with planning, participants are asked to call one day in advance to reserve their meal.
Michelle Kuznia, Grygla Site Coordinator, is excited to see the program grow. “I am so excited to start this program and plan activities ahead. Let’s get July rolling first and make this a success for our Grygla and Goodridge area seniors, or anyone, who needs a delicious and nutritious meal,” she said.
Meals are open to anyone age 60 or older with a completed registration form. The suggested donation is $6 per meal (or whatever amount you can afford). Those under 60 are welcome to participate as well, at a cost of $10 per meal.
The meals are provided through Nutrition Services Inc. (NSI) out of Thief River Falls, with the kitchen run by Sarah Madison. Each meal meets the daily requirements for a balanced diet, including protein, fruit or vegetable, bread, margarine, dessert and milk.
No senior will be denied a meal, even if they can’t afford to contribute. A monthly donation statement will be mailed out for those who wish to donate.
Menus for July are now available, though the Grygla site will only serve the Tuesday and Thursday meals listed. You can find printed menus at the Grygla Community Center, Grygla General Store and Post Office.
