Grygla City Council approves last month’s Minutes

The June meeting of the City Council was held at the Grygla Civic Building on Monday, June 9th. Council members approved the May minutes, which are included below. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Appeals and Equalization was held on May 12th and called to order at 6pm at the Civic Building by Mayor Devin Ruud with the following council members present: Dustin Nelson, Dave Dunrud, Gavin Nordby and Karla Byklum. Absent: None. Also present were Ryan Larson, Matt Vongroven, Gary Kiesow and Rose Aune.

Ryan Larson and Matt Vongroven from Marshall County Assessor’s Office presented the 2024 Sales Infographic for Marshall County. They also had the sales of Ag, commercial and residential sales for 2024. There wasn’t anyone that showed up to dispute their property taxes.

Nelson made a motion, seconded by Dunrud, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.

The Regular Meeting of the Grygla City Council was called to order at 7pm at the Civic Building by Mayor Devin Ruud with the following council members present: Dave Dunrud, Dustin Nelson, Karla Byklum and Gavin Nordby. Absent: None. Also present was Rose Aune.

Council approved minutes, along with receipts, disbursements, checking, savings & total balances for that month. The payment of all bills was also approved. Other items included:

SUMMER HELP

Waiting to hear from Inter-County Community Action to see if there is funding for the City to hire a kid through them, which then the city wouldn’t have to fund.

LIBERTY AVE REPAIRS

Rocky is working on getting bids to get the patchwork done on Liberty Ave.

STREET SWEEPING

Rocky will line up getting the street sweeper in to do the streets before graduation.

HYDRANT ON SIXTH AVE

The fire hydrant on Sixth Ave has been slowly leaking. Rocky will try flushing it out later and then he’ll try fixing it when Holthusens are working in town on a few other projects.

AIRPORT RUNWAY

There was nothing new to report at this time.

WATER TOWER/LAGOON GRANT

Still waiting to hear if there’s going to be funding this year. As of right now, it doesn’t sound like there will be. 

STORMWATER PROJECT

Nordby made a motion, and seconded by Byklum, to approve the proposal for completing a stormwater model and feasibility analysis for the flooding issues in town. The council agreed to check with the Red Lake Watershed District to see if they would be willing to share the cost of this project. Motion was carried unanimously.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

There will be a meeting on Monday, May 19th.

RABIES CLINIC

The Rabies Clinic will be Thursday, May 15th, from 4-7pm at the City Garage. Nelson and Nordby are interested in helping with that again this year.

SPRING CLEAN-UP MONTH

The whole month of May will be Spring Clean-Up month. The fee is $10/item dropped off at the City Garage. Charger Kindness Day will be Wednesday, May 14th. The students will be going around town and helping with projects for the city, businesses, churches, and residents.

MARSHALL COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Dunrud made a motion, seconded by Nordby, to donate $500 to the Marshall County Historical Society as they are trying to make upgrades to their facility. Motion was carried unanimously.

EXTRA MEETINGS

Ruud had a watershed meeting.

Dunrud made a motion, seconded by Byklum, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
